Kenya Program Coordinator
Eddy is a passionate environmentalist and eco-innovator, fueled to catalyze solutions for the problems Kenyan and neighboring communities face. He is a Young African Leader East Africa (YALI) Fellow who believes in the possibilities of a healthy peaceful society. Eddy was awarded the Young African Thinker in 2018 courtesy of UN-Habitat, a Top 15 innovator in Kenya 2020 courtesy of Konza Technopolis & Countrywide Hubs funded by UNDP, and a Finalist in Africa Climate Innovation Academy 2021. He recently made it to the Top 40 Global Ecopreneurs Program 2022 organized by International Trade Centre, Top 15 Startupper of the Year 2021-2022 by Total Energies, and 2nd Runner-up winner Cohort 2 by Circular Innovation Hub.
Eddy is currently working to scale a pilot household waste management and clean energy innovation project called the “T-Bin,'' which will also capture real time monitoring and evaluation. As the Kenyan Program Coordinator for Paragon Institute of Innovation, Gitonga is spearheading the efforts to implement a series of circular economy workshops throughout Kenya. Eddy hopes to integrate his Innovations throughout East and Central Africa as well as the 193 UN member states to help communities thrive and grow economically in health and peace.
